Muhlenberg Elementary Center

All students at MEC learn from high-impact instruction and developmentally-rich experiences. Students receive high-impact instruction and developmentally-rich experiences through the standards-aligned core curriculum, supported through the Amplify reading program, Eureka Math Squared, and Open-Sci-ed coursework. Students learn appropriate social skills through the High Five initiatives and our new social emotional learning programs, Responsive Classrooms and Second Step. In addition to the challenging core curriculum and social skills program, certified teachers also offer students instruction in Art, Music, Library, Physical Education and Technology and Engineering Foundations. 

 

To meet students’ special needs, MEC has numerous special education teachers and assistants as well as speech and occupational therapists, school counselors, a home school visitor and a school psychologist. MEC is a Title I school. Therefore, remedial reading instruction is available to all students. Certified teachers in the  ELL program provide additional support in Reading/ Language Arts and Math. Intervention and enrichment programs, as well as guidance support, are offered throughout the school day.  An Elementary Student Assistance Program is available. 

 

The MEC administration, faculty, and staff believe that a healthy relationship between the community and our school is fundamental to our educational program. Our students are imparted with an educational experience that fosters a positive attitude towards school, family, the community, and themselves. Our staff of experienced and highly talented educators strive to provide each student with a solid foundation of the basic skills needed to become life-long learners and contributing members of the community.
